About
I heat the room with a woodstove, and the oils and table are heated as well. I use hot rocks that I have collected myself on the Lost Coast, steamed towels, cups, Gua-sha, moxibustion and marma point therapy as indicated. I am skilled with draping and feel it is important to be respectful of personal boundaries and possible past traumas and to keep my client in a cozy trance by keeping the body covered and warm as I work.
I blend most of my own oils, using primarily cold pressed raw sesame and coconut, and add my own homegrown herbs and roots or ethically sourced unadulterated essential oils. I offer a full service herbal apothecary on site, and craft custom formulas.
I am sensitive to the needs of those with chemical sensitivities, and therefore use organic cotton sheets and clean them with hypoallergenic detergent and air dry.
Because of the use of medicated oils, I suggest you wear or bring a change of loose cotton clothing to wear after your treatment.
I sometimes use a Body Cushion on my table, which is a specially designed prop for supporting the body while in the face-down position. It helps you feel like you’re floating face-down in water and allows your limbs to relax a bit more. I also use a Thumper on occasion, a vibrating massage tool which can assist in working out super tight muscles.
Please call 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your treatment so I can offer your appointment to someone else.
If you arrive late, it will cut into your scheduled session. I will not go over to accommodate your lateness. I may have other clients scheduled after you and it takes time to clean my studio between sessions. You are welcome to arrive 5-10 minutes early; there is a chair on the porch at my studio entrance.
Please do not come if you are starting to experience cold or flu symptoms such as runny nose, body aches, or fever. Massage is not indicated when the body is mounting a defense. There is too much inflammation happening already and my work will only stir it up more and potentially make you sicker and make me less available to the community .
If you suspect you have been exposed to poison oak, please call to cancel or postpone your treatment as I am sensitive to it.
My hours of availability vary, I generally schedule 1.5 hour appointments at 10:00am, 10:30 or 11:00 and 1:30, 2:00 or 3:00pm. On occasion I can accommodate at 5:00pm or 7:00pm, and on the weekends.
Shorter chair sessions of 20 minutes up to under an hour are also available and can be made mobile to the site of your choice.
For an extra negotiable travel fee I can bring my table to remote locations such as the beach, an overlook on a bluff, the redwood forest, or alongside a river. I have backpack straps on my table case and everything I need to work outdoors on location. For trim crews, I request an inside warm location such as a drying shed, with at least 5 feet of space surrounding my table.
If you have been working with cannabis, please bathe thoroughly before your treatment and wear clean clothes, as I have become sensitive to it over the years I have worked in the Emerald Triangle. Buds stuck on dirty feet are unkind to my sheets. Please help me keep my organic flannel linens clean and unstained! Oils and lotions are a solvent.
I can accommodate service animals.
I do not have wheelchair access.
Work trade is available. I need: house cleaning, organizing, bottle washing, yard and garden work, landscaping, tree pruning and trimming, home maintenance, caretaking, skilled building construction and carpentry, furniture refinishing, and hide tanning. I would consider trading for organic produce, meat or wild game, homecooked or restaurant meals.
I am currently looking to trade for a BOGA racing SUP, a Mad River Explorer 14’ ABS canoe, Rossignol 172 Temptations or Soul 7’s.
